8 August 2008
Gday Froggies,
I love all those 8’s in the date, which signals the beginning of the Olympics tonight. Go the Aussies! I can see many sleepless nights over the coming weeks. The ski weekend was a success, with 35 froggies having an absolute ball. There were no injuries, and it was great to see the kids enjoying the snow for the first time. Maybe next year we might venture to New Zealand for a week, but 1 thing is for sure, a longer stay is certainly worthwhile.
We would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers that assisted us over the 6 days of the boat show. Whether you helped dive in the tank or pack up the display, we really did need your help and we thank you for it. A special thank you to Duane, Grant, Peter, Nathan, Caroline, the divers and a huge kiss for the Governor! For those of you that are unaware of what actually happened, we set up a display of around 50 square metres with a dive tank in the stand. Divers took turns in waving to the passing patrons from inside the tank, we sold some gear and we collected over a thousand entries into our competition. The hours are long, but we received some good radio coverage and positive feedback.
There is a bit happening in the coming weeks. The team dive is at Bare Island on Sunday, an equipment specialist course next week, a combined deep/wreck course on the 16th, John Warners 2 expeditions to dive with the great white sharks [with 2 spots on the first trip available], another attempt to dive at Forster [ due to an engine malfunction], a trip to dive on the far south coast at Merimbula, the return of Theo’s small group from Lady Elliott, and another long weekend diving the Brisbane wreck from Mooloolaba.
Please remember that our online shopping cart is up and running and can be accessed through our home page www.frogdive.com.au. It has certainly increased our exposure with Google. We have also embraced PADI’s new E-Learning program, with a change in the structure of our learn to dive course. Now students begin their dive course by registering online through the E-Learning porthole of the homepage of our website. All their theory is done at home, and the pool session and ocean dives is finalised over 1 weekend. The pool dives are completed on the Friday evening and the 5 ocean dives are done on the Saturday and Sunday. This really has made things easy for the consumer, without compromising training quality.

TEAM DIVE
Rug up for our team dive at Bare Island this Sunday, because it will be a chilly day. The water clarity of late has been good, and the sharks are certainly hanging around Magic Point. A grey nurse shark was also seen at the island last month, along with some giant boarfish and a few tattered cuttlefish. Port Jackson sharks are common, but be aware of the 2 spines in front of each dorsal fin. There is only 3 dives this Sunday and they are now all going to the sharks. Departure is at 8am, 10am, and 12 noon. Please be geared up and waiting for the boat to pick you up so as to ensure that she runs to her schedule. As usual we would appreciate you emailing luke@frogdive.com.au to notify him of your attendance on the day so that catering can be accurate. If you would like a buddy or a dive master on the day it will be organised then. The cost for this day is only $15 and $8 for current team members. Be aware that next month is the annual treasure hunt, on the 14th, with up to $10,000 in prizes given away on the day. It is certainly cheaper for our team members to enter, so if you have not joined the team, or your existing membership has expired, then drop into either store and sign up. We expect the price for this day to be approx $30 and $20 for Team members.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
You might think we are crazy to talk about our annual party so early, but this event requires an early booking on your behalf with your friends, family and work. It is formal dress as usual, the location is at Angelo’s restaurant in Prince Edward Park, on the 15th November. You can organise tables of 10 people, or simply book yourself as a single. This is a night not to be missed, where we pay tribute to our teaching staff, suppliers and most importantly customers. Plus the food this year will be exceptional. More on this event later….
NEWS RELEASE
We have booked Mike Ball’s Spoilsport as a whole boat charter for October 2009. Both stores will be attending, but those that book first will get the choice of their rooms first. We have a DVD and flyer available at the shops, for you to view. Express your interest early!
