TREASURE HUNT, shore dive tomorrow

Yyiipppeee! The weather has finally turned on a ripper for this weekend. Conditions will be great and the visibility is around 12 meters at most spots. Dust off your gear, get the practise in for the treasure hunt next month…..and enjoy this weekend’s weather. If you want to dive, then check out our shore dive tomorrow with Elliot.

Elliott’s gills have dried up because of the few opportunities to scuba dive of late. He is keen as mustard to take you for a dive tomorrow, so please call him today before 6pm on 0400322091 and let him know that you wish to attend. It should be a fantastic day and if you require gear, let either store know and pick it up before closing this afternoon.

We have 5 dates booked to dive the wreck of the Adelaide with space onboard. Please ensure that if you decide to this dive, that you are at least an advanced diver and that you have a surface marker buoy, light and a whistle. When the conditions are suitable to dive the wreck, it becomes one of those dives you need to do again and again. There are so many areas to explore inside, and we are beginning to see growth and an increase in the marine life around and within the wreck. Make sure that when you dive the Adelaide that you adhere to safe diving recommendations and always do a safety stop on each dive. We recommend a nitrox mix and no reverse profiles! The dates free are – SEPTEMBER on the 3rd, 17th and 24th …call either store to book your double dive day.

It is on again…..the frog dive treasure hunt at Balmoral. Many of you have come away from the day, with fantastic prizes, from past events. Well this year will be another great day. For those of you that have no idea of what we are talking about here, each year we organise prizes from our suppliers and supporters up to a total value of around $10,000 with the 2 best prizes being an Oceanic OC1 Limited edition watch and a Scubapro regulator…. There are more great prizes to come. We dump a number of potatoes into the water, you line up along the beach and then the signal is given to enter the water and search for the potatoes. You are allowed 1 potato per person, and they are exchanged for a raffle ticket upon exiting the water. We supply a great feed, and then after lunch, we draw the prizes. There is a cost to enter, $30 or $25 team members [badge must be shown] and the feed is included. Any monies raised go towards maintaining the club equipment…..e.g. we recently had to have the Trailer made compliant with the proper gas system, costing over $400. Mayhem best describes the event, and there will be divemasters there on the day to assist you if required. It is paramount that if you intend to come, that you email and tell him how many people will be attending on the day. More on this in the coming weeks, we expect approx 150 divers.

Theo has scheduled his now famous underwater photography course for the weekend of the 17th September. So many of us now own underwater cameras, but fail to get the results we want. This course teaches you to better understand how your camera works, framing of subjects, adjusting the white balance on your camera and the use of external lighting. And after the course has been completed, the all important photo editing is also addressed. The cost for the program is $295 per person, and we are taking bookings now.

You want an opportunity to do a good dive this year, and so far the weather has really been against us since Easter. Well this is your chance, as we are heading south to the beautiful Jervis Bay in September for a fun diving weekend where you can actually scuba dive with a colony of seals. The seals will approach you in the water and swim around you mimicking your underwater actions!! If you have never done this… must make the effort as you will never ever forget this experience. The video footage and photos you end up with will blow all your friends minds. You will also do a couple of fantastic reef dives and your accommodation for 2 nights, air fills and your second dive tank are all included for only $345 / 325 team. We have a number of bookings already, so don’t leave this to the last minute. The drive south is only 2.5 hours from Sydney. Call either store to book.

Duane leaves for the fantastic Beqa Lagoon on the 3rd September to dive the beautiful reefs around Fiji. All meals are included at the resort, 12 boat dives and unlimited shore dives…..returns on the 11th September. You need to call today if you wish to attend so that we can ticket you asap.
